Welcome post

Hey everyone! My names Carson Roscoe, and welcome to my first blog post. I’m a software development student studying at British Columbia Institute of Technology. I graduated from my diploma, where I majored in software development and minored in data communications & internetworking, back in June. I am currently enrolled in my degree where my major is software development and my minor is games development. This is why most of my old projects in my portfolio have to do with data communications, while most of the newer projects have to do with games. I also have two summers of work experience doing C#/Xamarin.Forms development.

I’m basically a very passionate programmer who wants to learn everything I can. This is what this blog will mostly be about. This blog of mine will be used for a few different things overall.

First of all, I will use this blog to talk about the general development of projects I’m working on. These will be things such as project concepts, early stages of development, project releases (whether public releases or just to GitHub/portfolio) and project updates.

The second main thing I’ll use this blog for are for my new years resolution updates. Part of my new years resolution was to spend at least three hours every week learning a new skill that is at least loosely related to my passions. These could be learning modeling in Blender, animating models, basic Photoshop, shaders, the D language, anything technology related really. I’ll simply be writing posts recapping what I did, hurdles I encountered initially and pictures of what I managed to make in the three hour minimum time span. I want to have 52 of these posts by the end of the year, averaging one a week. I truly feel that diversifying my skill set and general knowledge like this will better no only my skills as a programmer, but I’m hoping it will better myself as a team member as I’ll have a bit more knowledge in every domain. That’s the goal anyway.

I’m here to learn a lot, get myself out their, and maybe improve my writing skills in the meantime. The sky’s the limit my friends, the only thing holding us all back from achieving the world is our fears of taking the first step.
